Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup water
- 2 ½ tablespoons granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup sugar mixed with 1 tablespoon cinnamon (for coating)
- Optional: melted chocolate or caramel for dipping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
- In a saucepan, combine water, sugar, salt, and vegetable oil. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Remove from heat and add flour and vanilla all at once. Stir vigorously until the dough pulls away from the sides and forms a ball.
- Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe bite-sized segments onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden and crispy. Cool slightly.
- Toss the baked churro bites in cinnamon-sugar mixture until evenly coated.
- Serve warm with melted chocolate, caramel, or dusted with powdered sugar.
Notes
- Ensure your dough is smooth and stiff enough for piping.
- Avoid over-baking to keep churros tender inside.
- Use a star piping tip for traditional ridges.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container to maintain crispness.
