Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, sliced into strips
- 3 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil or sesame oil
- Optional: chopped green onions and sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Start by slicing the chicken into evenly sized strips, then whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger to create the marinade and sauce.
- Place the chicken strips into a bowl, pour half of the sweet chili sauce mixture over them, toss to coat, and marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated chicken and cook for 5-7 minutes until cooked through and lightly browned, stirring occasionally.
- Pour the remaining sauce into the skillet and simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened. Make sure the chicken is coated in the sauce.
- Remove from heat, garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds if desired, and serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
Notes
- Use thinly sliced chicken for quicker cooking and better flavor absorption.
- Adjust sweetness or spiciness by varying the amount of sweet chili sauce and honey.
- If you prefer a thicker sauce, simmer longer until desired consistency is achieved.
- For a healthier alternative, bake or air fry the chicken instead of pan-frying.
