- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet dry yeast (7g)
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup currant jam
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and a teaspoon of sugar. Let sit until frothy, about 5 minutes.
- Add remaining sugar, salt, melted butter, egg, and flour gradually, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth, then cover and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
- Spread softened cream cheese evenly over the dough, then dollop currant jam on top.
- Roll up the dough tightly from the longer side, then cut into 1-inch slices.
- Place the swirls on a lined baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove from oven and cool slightly before serving.
