Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet dry yeast (7g)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup currant jam

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and a teaspoon of sugar. Let sit until frothy, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add remaining sugar, salt, melted butter, egg, and flour gradually, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth, then cover and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  5. Spread softened cream cheese evenly over the dough, then dollop currant jam on top.
  6. Roll up the dough tightly from the longer side, then cut into 1-inch slices.
  7. Place the swirls on a lined baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Remove from oven and cool slightly before serving.
