Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp brown sugar or honey
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- 2 green onions, sliced
- Sesame seeds for garnish
- Cooked white or jasmine rice (for serving)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Set aside.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Stir in the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 2-3 minutes. Pour the prepared sauce over the beef, stirring well to coat evenly. Continue cooking for another 3-4 minutes until flavors meld.
- Serve the savory beef mixture over cooked rice. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. For extra heat, add more red pepper flakes or hot sauce.
Notes
- You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
- Adjust red pepper flakes according to your spice preference.
- Serve with side dishes like kimchi or pickled vegetables for a complete meal.
