Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cooked and shredded
- 1 cup Alfredo sauce (homemade or store-bought)
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup marinara or tomato sauce
- 4 hoagie buns or sandwich rolls
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil for cooking
Instructions
- Cook the chicken breasts in a skillet with a splash of olive oil until fully cooked and tender. Once cooled, shred the chicken into bite-sized pieces. Season with salt and pepper during cooking.
- In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until fragrant and translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add shredded chicken and stir to combine. Pour in Alfredo sauce and marinara sauce, mix well, and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Toast the sandwich buns lightly if desired. Spoon a generous amount of the creamy chicken Alfredo mixture onto each bun. Top with grated Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
- Use freshly cooked or pre-cooked shredded chicken for the best texture.
- Opt for high-quality Alfredo sauce for richer flavor.
- Adjust the sauce consistency with chicken broth if it becomes too thick.
- Add herbs like basil or oregano to customize the flavor.
- Prepare the filling in advance for quick assembly during busy evenings.
