- 1 large cabbage head
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1/2 pound ground beef or plant-based substitute
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced

- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Core the cabbage and blanch in boiling water for 5 minutes until leaves are pliable. Carefully peel off leaves and set aside.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté onions and garlic until translucent.
- Mix cooked rice, ground beef, sautéed onions, garlic, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Place a scoop of filling onto each cabbage leaf and roll tightly, tucking in the sides.
- Arrange rolls seam-side down in a baking dish and cover with tomato sauce.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until heated through and slightly browned.
Notes
- You can substitute ground beef with lentils or mashed beans for a vegetarian version.
- Adjust seasoning to taste, and add herbs like dill or parsley for extra flavor.
