  • Total Time: 1 hour 15 minutes - 1 hour 25 minutes
  • Yield: 1 loaf

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (for cinnamon filling)
  • Optional: chopped nuts or chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cinnamon swirl mixture by combining brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and 1 tablespoon of flour in a small bowl. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, mash the bananas until smooth. Add the softened butter, granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix well until the batter is creamy and smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing gently until just combined.
  4. Grease your bread pan and pour half of the batter into it. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture over the batter. Repeat with remaining batter and cinnamon mixture to create a swirl pattern.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the banana bread for 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use browned butter instead of softened butter.
  • Optional: add chopped nuts or chocolate chips to the batter for extra texture.
  • Ensure bananas are very ripe for maximum sweetness and moisture.
