A savory pizza that combines the flavors of classic French onion soup with a crispy crust, caramelized onions, and melted cheese, perfect for a cozy night

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 store-bought pizza crust
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup Gruyere cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • Fresh thyme sprigs
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced onions, salt, and cook until caramelized, about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add minced garlic and thyme leaves to the onions, cook for another minute, then remove from heat.
  4. Spread caramelized onions evenly over the pizza crust.
  5. Sprinkle shredded Gruyere and Parmesan cheese over the onions.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and crust is golden brown.
  7. Garnish with fresh thyme and serve hot.

Notes

  • You can substitute Gruyere with Swiss or mozzarella cheese.
  • For extra flavor, add a splash of balsamic vinegar during caramelization.
