Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) beef strips (sirloin or flank steak)
- 2 cups fresh broccoli florets
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional for extra depth)
- 1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (for slurry)
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
- Cooked rice or noodles for serving
Instructions
- Start by slicing the beef into thin strips against the grain. In a bowl, marinate the beef with 1 tablespoon of soy sauce and a teaspoon of cornstarch. Let it sit while preparing the vegetables.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the beef strips and stir-fry until browned and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add a little more oil if needed. Toss in the broccoli florets and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Mix honey, remaining soy sauce, and oyster sauce (if using) in a small bowl. Pour this over the vegetables in the skillet. Return the cooked beef to the skillet, tossing everything together.
- Stir the cornstarch slurry into the skillet and cook for another minute until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and broccoli evenly.
- Remove from heat, garnish with sesame seeds if desired, and serve hot over rice or noodles for a complete meal.
Notes
- Use thinly sliced beef for quick cooking and maximum flavor.
- Keep the heat high for a good sear and cook in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding.
- Sprinkle with chopped green onions or a squeeze of lime before serving for extra flavor.
