Ingredients
Scale
- 6 large croissants, sliced into thick pieces
- 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate bars
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup of whole milk or heavy cream for extra richness
- 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- Optional: powdered sugar and fresh berries for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the croissants into thick pieces and arrange them in a greased baking dish. Sprinkle generously with chocolate chips.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk or heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla extract to make the custard.
- Pour the custard evenly over the croissants, ensuring all pieces are soaked. Press down gently with a spatula. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to absorb.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes until golden and puffed.
- Remove from the oven, cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar or garnish with fresh berries. Serve warm.
Notes
- For an extra indulgence, add a dollop of whipped cream or a splash of coffee to the custard before baking.
- Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavor result.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in the microwave for 20 seconds or in a 350°F (175°C) oven until warm.
