Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (or turkey, chicken options)
- 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade seasoning mix)
- 4 large flour tortillas
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional toppings: sour cream, salsa, chopped cilantro
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté diced onions until translucent, about 2-3 minutes. Add ground beef, season with salt, pepper, and taco seasoning, then cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Lay a large flour tortilla on a flat surface. Spread a portion of the cooked beef mixture evenly over half of the tortilla. Sprinkle with shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese. Fold the tortilla over to enclose the filling, pressing gently to seal.
- Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place the assembled quesadilla in the skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown, crispy, and cheese is melted. Press down gently with a spatula for a crispy exterior.
- Remove the quesadilla from the skillet and let rest for a minute. Slice into wedges and serve hot with optional toppings like salsa, sour cream, or cilantro for extra flavor.
Notes
- Ensure the cheese melts completely for the best flavor and texture.
- For extra crispiness, press down gently with a spatula during cooking.
- Use toppings like salsa and sour cream to enhance flavor.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container and reheated in an air fryer or skillet for crispy results.
