- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, cold
- 3 large apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Make the shortbread crust: In a bowl, combine flour, powdered sugar, and cold butter. Mix until crumbly, then press into the bottom of the baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, toss sliced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spread apple mixture evenly over the crust.
- Prepare streusel topping: Mix oats, chopped nuts, and a little flour if desired. Sprinkle evenly over apples.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool before slicing.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a splash of vanilla extract to the apple filling.
- Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for added indulgence.
