Ingredients
Scale
- 3 large apples (Fuji, Honeycrisp, or Gala work best)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup crushed nuts or granola (optional for extra crunch)
- Cooking spray or olive oil spray
Instructions
- Wash and peel the apples. Using a sharp knife or vegetable chopper, cut the apples into approximately 1/2-inch thick sticks, removing the core.
- Set up three bowls: one with a mixture of flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg; one with beaten eggs and vanilla; and the third with panko breadcrumbs mixed with crushed nuts or granola.
- Coat each apple stick in the flour mixture, then dip into the egg wash, and finally roll in the breadcrumb mixture, ensuring full coverage.
- Preheat the Ninja Air Fryer to 400°F (200°C). Lightly spray the basket with cooking spray.
- Arrange the coated apple sticks in a single layer without overlapping. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, shaking or flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.
Notes
- Use different apple varieties based on preferred sweetness and firmness.
- Add a pinch of cayenne pepper to spice things up.
- For gluten-free, substitute panko with crushed gluten-free cereal or almond flour.
- Ensure even-sized apple pieces for consistent cooking.
- Experiment with flavorings like lemon zest or cardamom for variation.
