Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large tart apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
- Optional: powdered sugar or caramel sauce for topping
Instructions
- Peel, core, and cut the apples into small, bite-sized pieces. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs, vanilla extract, and milk until well combined.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until smooth.
- Gently fold in the chopped apples, ensuring they are evenly coated with the batter.
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray the basket with non-stick spray or brush with oil.
- Using a spoon or cookie scoop, drop spoonfuls of batter into the basket, shaping into small rounds.
- Air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Allow the fritters to cool slightly before serving. Top with powdered sugar or caramel sauce if desired, and enjoy!
Notes
- For added flavor, sprinkle with additional cinnamon or nutmeg before serving.
- Leftover fritters can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
- Reheat in the air fryer or toaster oven to restore crispiness; avoid microwaving to prevent sogginess.
